Jayne Canaday

Jayne Canaday has taught in the public school system for 35 years. She  retired from Groveport Madison Local Schools in 2019, after spending her entire career as Director of Bands at Groveport Madison Middle School North, as well as the assistant band director at Groveport Madison High School. Her students were consistent in participating in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events, as well as large group adjudicated events every year.  In addition, the high school band performed at Walt Disney World December, 2018 was invited to perform at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Since beginning with The Golden Sound, Jayne’s duties have included assistant  marching band director, teaching private lessons, principal accompanist for solo and ensemble students and directing clarinet choir and pep band. 

Jayne earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and a masters degree in piano pedagogy, both from The Ohio State University. She held a double major in piano and clarinet as an undergraduate, was a member of the concert band and played trombonium for 5 years in The Ohio State University Marching Band. 

Currently a member of The Brass Band of Columbus, Jayne enjoys continuing to perform and share her joy of music with others. She is a member of the Ohio Music Education, the National Association for Music Education and the North American Brass Band Association.
